From Fnno.com, you're watching the Financial News Network. Some good news for Twitter and Wall Street enthusiasts: The social media service has unveiled a new type of hashtag, dubbed "cashtag", that will allow users to look easily at stock news from a Twitter status.
These cashtags will take the form of stock tickers preceded by a dollar sign. When users click on a cashtag, they will be taken directly to search results about stocks and companies.
Many users are thrilled about the new feature, but one is not so happy. Howard Lindzon, the CEO of StockTwits, is claiming that Twitter stole his idea, which he allegedly came up with four years ago. In a blog post, Lindzon said, "You can hijack a plane but it does not mean you know how to fly it." We'll be testing out the cashtag on our own Twitter account @FNNOnline, or check out our website at fnno.com for more on the latest business news.
